Clear Blue Skies and an Abundance of Wildlife

This past weekend we went out to the lake to take some more photographs. We have really fallen in love with the lake. There is just something about the way the wind blows across the water and the sounds the waves make as they beat against the shoreline. Not to mention the abundance of wildlife and the excitement of not knowing what we may encounter on any given day. This weekend  we had excellent weather with clear blue skies and the brightest of sunlight. We found several new and interesting birds that we hadn’t seen in this area before so we thought we’d share with everyone. We also took a few pictures of some trees and plants that we’ve also included in the post. Hopefully you find these as exciting as we do.

Buffelhead Duck diving. These little critters love to dive. We had a hard time getting them to stay above water to get a decent shot. However, they are fun to watch diving because they do it so gracefully.

American Kestrel – This is our first encounter with one of these birds. Unfortunately we were not able to get real close. This was the best picture we were able to get.
