Ruddy Duck

These little ducks are pretty unique by the fact that their tail feathers often stick straight up. These birds are small water birds that we often see during the winter months out at the lake. We typically will seen them in large flocks of between 20 and 80 birds. A lot of the time when we see these birds they are out in the middle of the lake sleeping. Occasionally they will drift with the waters current closer to the shoreline, allowing us to get better shots of them.
